Canvassing

Draw turf and load doors

Outline an area on the map, then fill it with the homes to knock.

  1. In Canvass, search for any address or city in the US.
  2. Choose New turf and draw it: a radius (tap the center, then tap again to set the size) or a shape (tap each corner, then tap the first point or double click to finish).
  3. Name the turf, like Eastside Turf 4.

Load the doors

  • Pull addresses: WoodX pulls every home inside the turf from OpenStreetMap. Draw turf under about 15 square miles for this.
  • Import voter file: upload a voter file, walk list, or customer list as a CSV. Rows without coordinates are placed on their houses with the free US Census geocoder. Choose Only inside turf to skip everyone outside the lines.

If OpenStreetMap has no addresses for an area yet, import a voter file instead.
